For International Women’s Day, we sat down with Significo’s very own Chief Product Officer, Caroline Nieto, to talk about making healthtech more human, supporting women in tech, and the meaning of International Women’s Day to her.

What does it mean to make health technology more human?

On International Women's Day, making healthtech more human involves being aware of historical injustices and biases that marginalize women in accessing quality healthcare. It's about standing up to old-fashioned patriarchal or biased ideas and pushing for fairer rules.

We need to make sure everyone feels included, listens to each other, and has a say, no matter who they are. We aspire to forge digital pathways where every individual and everyone feels respected and supported in their personal journey, sticking to our mission of building people-first health technology, free of bias, discrimination, and inequity.

Why are you proud to be a part of this company?

I take great pride in being a member of Significo because of its unwavering commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for everyone in the tech field, regardless of gender.

It's inspiring to see my male colleagues' awareness of the challenges women have faced in tech historically, and their dedication to creating a workplace where women can not only succeed but also shine,  bloom and take on leadership roles.

By acknowledging women's contributions to tech history and advocating for gender equality, women's empowerment, and intersectionality, we strive to foster a workplace where everyone is treated fairly. While we acknowledge that overcoming historical injustices across industries is an ongoing journey, we are dedicated to contributing our efforts every day to drive meaningful change.

What do you think is an important issue or advice for women in tech?

A significant challenge for women in the tech industry is the long history of overlooking and undervaluing their contributions, which stretches back to trailblazers like Ada Lovelace and the women who worked on ENIAC. To counter this, women in tech must boldly challenge the entrenched barriers and stand in sorority and solidarity  to foster an inclusive environment. Remember, you are brilliant, smart, and powerful beyond measure. And we are allies on a journey to greatness. Embrace your uniqueness, share your knowledge generously, and don't hold back your light.

Together, we can create a world of support and empowerment, because each of us has the power to change the world, and we're here to cheer each other on every step of the way.

What does International Women's Day mean to you, and/or to Significo?

International Women's Day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and justice, rooted in the historical fight for women's rights and liberation.

For Significo, this day represents a reaffirmation of our commitment to gender equality, women's empowerment, and intersectionality,  and our dedication to dismantling systemic barriers that hinder women's advancement and create awareness in the sector.

Inspired by the legacies of historical women pioneers and activists, we use International Women's Day as an opportunity to amplify marginalized voices, celebrate women's achievements, and recommit ourselves to creating a more inclusive and equitable world for all genders.
